There is a relatively unknown (outside of the black community) bias against swimming. Slaves were traumatized to be hydrophobic to prevent escape from slave ships and then there was segregation of pools until relatively recently. This is fortunately fading now, last I checked.

Nope. Couldn’t afford lessons, no one had a pool and I lived in a predominantly black city. I’d like to one day just for safely but I usually just sink like a rock.

Ok so since there’s a bunch of science nerds on here and I’m sleep deprived I’m gonna ask my dumb ftl question.

If you’re on a train and you walk towards the front of the train, your speed measured from outside of the train is the speed of the train (T) plus the speed of you walking (W).

So if there was a train inside of that train, and you walked inside of that, you’d go the speed of the outside train, plus the speed of the inside train, plus your own walking speed.

So what if we had a Russian nesting doll of trains, so that the inner most train was, from the outside, going as fast as light and you walked towards the front? Wouldn’t you be going faster than light if you measured your speed from the outside?

Didn’t come at me with how hard it would be to build a Russian nesting doll of super trains it’s a hypothetical and I’m tired.

You could start by engaging and reaching out. For example, assuming someone doesn’t care because of their race, gender identity and job is kinda shitty. Maybe look into those internal biases.

The next part would be finding out how they are and will be effected by this new presidency. Sometimes people have a hard time caring about a problem if it doesn’t affect them directly. You might have to get to know your coworkers rather than make assumptions about them to learn this.

Being polite and nice to them also helps, no one wants to hear from someone who’s screaming at them.

The thing is, a lot of these people are literally Nazis, and I’m starting to wonder if it was “people saying Nazi too much” or it was actually “there was a fuckton of Nazis and no one took people saying that seriously and now there’s Nazis around and people are blaming the folks who were warning others about the Nazis for not seeing Nazis soon enough”
